Almir Smajlovic is a Managing Director with Secretariat and is based in Houston, Texas. He has over 12 years of experience in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration and over 10 years of industry experience. His primary areas of concentration are damages quantum and other financial, economic, forensic, and accounting-related analyses in the context of disputes, valuations, audits and transactions.

Mr. Smajlovic has led engagements and assessed damages in international arbitration matters held under the auspices of various arbitral forums, including ICSID, ICDR, LCIA, SCC, ICC and SIAC, among others. Mr. Smajlovic has technical expertise in valuation methodologies, including the income, market, cost, and hybrid-based approaches. He has worked with clients across a range of industries and asset types.

Prior to joining Secretariat, Mr. Smajlovic held positions at Alvarez & Marsal, Charles River Associates and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Before PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Smajlovic spent almost a decade at Kellogg, Brown and Root in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, where he worked in operational and supply chain roles.

Mr. Smajlovic earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from the University of Houston. He is Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Texas and Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) with National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
