Keely Varvel

Keely Varvel serves as the Assistant Secretary of State for Arizona, a position held since December 2022. Prior experience includes serving as Chief of Staff for the Mayor and Council in the City of Tempe and as Chief Deputy Recorder for Maricopa County. Varvel has a robust background in legislative and policy roles, having worked as Chief of Staff for the Minority Caucus in the Arizona House of Representatives and as Policy Director for the Minority Caucus in the Arizona State Senate. Additional experience encompasses strategic initiatives at the Arizona Department of Economic Security and various roles within the Arizona Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family and the Arizona Democratic Party. Varvel began a career in public service as a Legislative Assistant for US Congress member Karan English. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Northern Arizona University and a certification as a Certified Elections Registration Administrator.
