Adam Stone, MBA, Fellow in Information Privacy (FIP), CIPM, CIPP/US, CISSP, ISSMP, HCISPP has over 30 years business leadership experience with 20 years overseeing data privacy and security functions for pharmaceutical distribution, healthcare, insurance, financial services and marketing organizations.

Adam has significant experience with the broad array of global privacy and data security laws and regulations. He is expert in the intricacies of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and its implementing regulations. He provides advice and leadership for successfully implementing complex regulatory regimes for large organizations – including HIPAA/HITECH, PCI DSS, Shared Assessments SIG/AUP, 42 CFR Part 2, G-L-B and FFIEC standards, Privacy Shield self-certification, ISO 17799/27001/2 and several EU data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

As a data privacy and security expert, Adam has significant experience implementing and refining data privacy and security practices and processes and affecting sometimes-disruptive change across large organizations. He is particularly skilled in navigating complex customer-facing initiatives to guide executives towards profit-generating activities that encourage customer loyalty by focusing on trust and confidence.

Adam has worked with government regulators and legal counsel to help ensure compliance with relevant data privacy and security laws and regulations. He helps organizations understand their regulatory risk and responds to regulatory inquiries. He drafts and publishes numerous corporate-level data security and privacy policies and has developed dozens of Web privacy policies, data use policies and terms of use polices. He has also contributed to public company 10-K risk reporting and software licensing agreements. Adam also has years of experience managing and investigating information security incidents and related crises.

Adam is an active member of the data privacy and security community, extending value through frequent contributions to industry “best practices” and local leadership in the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as long-time chair of the Twin Cities-area IAPP KnowledgeNet (now retired) and founding the first-ever (ISC)2 Affiliated Twin Cities Area Chapter (served as president). Adam is a writer and editor of examination questions for both the CISSP and ISSMP certifications. He also serves on the IAPP Education Advisory Board.
