Charity Porotesano has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. In 2010, they interned at the House of Commons. Charity then worked as a Second Grade Social Studies Teacher at the American Samoa Department of Education from 2012 to 2013, followed by an internship at Teaching for Change in 2013. From 2013 to 2014, they served as a Third Grade Teacher at the American Samoa Department of Education. In 2014, Charity worked as a Truman-Albright Fellow contracted by Nakamoto Group at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS. Their role involved organizing various initiatives, drafting policy briefs, and coordinating meetings. Charity interned at the Global Language Project in 2016 and later became the Literacy Leaders Program Coordinator at The New York Public Library from 2016 to 2018. Charity then worked as a Policy Specialist at the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration: National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa from 2018 to 2019. In 2020, they became a Field Operations Supervisor at the U.S. Census Bureau and later transitioned to roles at Seeding Success, where they first held the position of Public Policy Advisor from 2020 to 2023 and currently serves as the Deputy Director of Public Policy and Analysis.

Charity Porotesano completed a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy from the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development in 2016. Prior to that, from 2008 to 2012, they attended Grinnell College, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science. In 2010, during their time at Grinnell College, Charity also studied in London, United Kingdom, but did not receive a degree specific to that program.
