Nicola Fennel

Nicola Fennel has a diverse and extensive work experience. Nicola'smost recent position is as the Manager of College Access at Seeds of Fortune Inc., which they started in April 2022. Prior to that, they were the Owner of Yoga with Cola LLC since January 2021.

Nicola also has a strong background in college admission counseling. Nicola worked at the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling as the Co-Director of Camp College from July 2011 to February 2023. In this role, they mentored small groups of students, provided college admissions and financial aid advisement, and was interviewed and featured regarding the benefits of Camp College.

Nicola was also a Board Member at the College Access Consortium of New York (CACNY) from May 2019 to June 2022. Nicola'sroles included policy and advocacy, as well as serving as the board secretary.

Additionally, Nicola held the position of Director of College Access at StreetSquash from July 2017 to December 2021. Nicola was the Senior College Access Coordinator at YWCA of the City of New York from August 2015 to June 2017.

Previously, Nicola worked at the NYC Department of Education as a Parent Coordinator and College Advisor from October 2014 to July 2015. In this capacity, they increased parental involvement and awareness of school activities and provided college counseling services to students.

Earlier in their career, they worked at the Association for Equality and Excellence in Education (AEEE) as the Executive Secretary from July 2013 to June 2015. Nicola also served as the NYC Metro District Representative at AEEE from July 2011 to June 2013, where they established a communications network and coordinated regional activities.

Nicola's experience also includes being an Educational Talent Search Counselor at Brooklyn College from October 2009 to September 2014, as well as a Summer Camp/After School Counselor at Kamp 4 Kidz LLC from July 2008 to September 2009.

Nicola Fennel obtained their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from CUNY Medgar Evers College, which they attended from 2003 to 2008. Following this, they pursued further education and earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Psychology in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, during the period of 2010 to 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Nicola Fennel has also obtained several certifications. In January 2021, they completed the 200 Hour Hatha Yoga certification from Yoga Blue Fitness. Then, in December 2011, they obtained a certification in Personal Financial Management from the Institute of Personal Financial Management.

More recently, Nicola Fennel obtained multiple certifications in 2022. In April 2022, they completed the Birth Doula Certification from DONA International and the Prenatal Fitness Educator (Yoga) certification from Awakened Spirit Yoga. Additionally, in August 2022, they acquired the Introduction to Google Workspace Administration certification from Coursera.
