Bioinformatics Scientist II at Seer

Lee Cantrell, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and responsibilities. Beginning in 2014, they worked at Whitworth University as a Lab Teaching Assistant, Research Assistant, Chemistry Department Tutor, Supplemental Instruction Facilitator, Resident Assistant, and Instrument Technician. During this time, they gained experience in microscopy, computational framework development, physical measurements, synthesis and purification of small molecules, and screening for activity against FDA approved targets. In 2017, Lee Cantrell worked as a Summer Research Intern at Vanderbilt University. From 2018 to 2023, they pursued a Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University, focusing on mass spectrometry proteomics to investigate aging in the eye lens. Their work involved method development, tissue processing, analytical measurement, data science automation, and correlation of results to biology. In 2021, they worked as a Data Analyst at BioCentury Inc. Currently, they are employed as a Bioinformatics Scientist I at Seer, starting in 2023.

Lee Cantrell, PhD, completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry at Whitworth University from 2014 to 2018. Lee then pursued their Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University from 2018 to 2023, specializing in Chemical and Physical Biology with a focus on the Structural Biology and Molecular Biophysics Track. In addition to their formal education, Dr. Cantrell obtained a certification in Python for Data Science from IBM in August 2018.
