Seer is a remote first agency and Certified B-Corp with team members working across the country. If an office environment is more your style, this position can also sit in Philadelphia or San Diego. We can only consider candidates based in the US who are able to work continental US based hours.

What about you? As a seasoned VP of Business Development, you will leverage your exceptional leadership capabilities and strategic vision to elevate our agency’s sales and marketing efforts. In this pivotal role, you will develop and drive the Sales & Marketing Division’s annual goals and strategic plan, enhance brand visibility, and spearhead substantial revenue growth, contributing significantly to our agency’s strategic growth goals. While this role will be leading both our sales and marketing divisions, it will be focused on driving business strategy + development.

Your compensation and benefits will look like...

  • $250,000 - $275,000/annually. Your final offered compensation will be determined based on your skills and experience
  • Evaluation of comp at least once a year

Here are some highlights of what you’ll be doing…

  • Develop and Oversee Strategy: As the leader of the Sales & Marketing divisions, you will develop and oversee the execution of our sales and marketing strategy in partnership with the Division Directors. You will be responsible for the company hitting growth targets north of $15MM with annual compounding rates representing $20-$25MM as we look to future growth. You will own all reporting and data analysis for sales and marketing, ensuring data-driven decision-making and strategic adjustments.
  • Hands-On Leadership: Drive all net new business development activities, including prospecting, qualifying, and pitching, while maintaining a strong understanding of the competitive landscape. This role is hands-on and will be driving new business from start to finish, holding the highest sales goal target. (New business including but, not limited to addressing all inbound net-new leads, generating net-to-file  brands/logos, outbound efforts, etc.)
  • Tech Stack and Innovation: Lead the adoption, optimization, and innovation  across the Sales & Marketing tech stack, including Pipedrive, HubSpot, and Clay. Integrate cutting-edge technologies and AI tools to enhance processes and efficiency. Empower your team with a test-and-learn mindset, fostering continuous improvement and experimentation..
  • Marketing Leadership and Synchronization:  Lead and inspire the Marketing function, ensuring alignment with business objectives and maintaining the integrity of Seer’s positioning and story. You will partner with the Director of Marketing to craft an annual marketing plan designed to hit high-quality MQLs targets. You'll also be accountable for Seer's website performance and content strategy and brand development in partnership with the Director of Creative.
  • Cross-Division Collaboration: Collaborate with division leadership & SME’s across the organization to drive new business. You’ll leverage the expertise of Seer’s digital marketing SME’s, in order to keep a close pulse on the competitive landscape. You will be expected to stay up-to-date  on the key differentiators of Seer’s offering.
  • Budget Development and Resource Allocation: Partner with the VP of Finance and other senior executive leaders, in order to establish annual sales goals that can ensure Seer hits appropriate growth targets. Ability to develop an accompanying Sales and Marketing resourcing plan, in order to achieve said goals and growth targets.
  • Division Leadership and Culture Building: Lead, expand, and optimize the team to align with organizational growth while ensuring scalability and operational excellence. Serve as an engaged mentor, setting performance expectations and success metrics. Champion of our culture & values, fostering a culture of feedback, growth, and learning, promoting an environment where team members thrive and excel.
  • Executive Team Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with the executive team on the strategic direction of the organization, championing our values, culture, and objectives. Provide leadership and insight to ensure that company-wide goals are aligned with our mission and drive overall business success.  Participate actively in executive and senior leadership team meetings and on-site sessions (at Philadelphia HQ), providing leadership and insight to drive overall business success.

The skills you’ll bring to the table…

  • Strategic Leadership Skills: 10+ years leading Sales & Marketing teams with hands-on experience building high-performing teams of 10+ members, Demonstrated managerial experience with team members from individual contributors to seasoned Directors. A proven track record of hitting departmental sales goals in a Digital Marketing Agency environment.
  • Sales Expertise: Extensive experience with inbound, SDR, and outbound sales strategies, with a consultative, value driven approach.  Demonstrated experience closing deals with an ARR $500K+ across SMBs to Fortune 100s, selling to C-Suite executives. Proven track record of closing $15MM-$25MM in new business annually. Successfully built and executed a scalable sales model generating multi-year growth interfacing with sales engineers/SMEs.
  • Pipeline Development: Utilize your deep industry connections to identify and secure new business opportunities. Demonstrated success in leveraging a full funnel approach driving $75MM-$100MM in qualified pipeline, highlighting your capability in attracting new brands and growing our client portfolio.
  • Marketing strategy expertise: Proven success leading & partnering with marketing and product/delivery teams to align strategies that generate high-quality MQLs and drive closed business. Expertise in converting old warm leads into hot deals by leveraging brand trust and existing relationships to provide value & education, rather than relying solely on cold outreach.
  • Tech Stack and Innovation: Highly adept at using and optimizing marketing and business development tech stacks like Pipedrive, HubSpot, and Clay to enhance sales and marketing efforts. Experienced in leveraging AI tools and technologies, including AI-driven data analysis and automation, to drive efficiencies and improve outcomes.
  • Data-Driven and Financial Expertise: Expertise in utilizing data-driven insights to measure campaign effectiveness and make strategic recommendations. Proven ability in financial decision-making, including building ROI business cases to secure funding for sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas, influence stakeholders, and present to executive leadership.
  • Executive Team Experience: Significant experience working as part of an executive team, contributing to overall company strategy and decision-making processes.
  • Travel Expectations: You can expect to travel for conferences and pitches about ~15% of the year.

  • Relationship Building: You will have fostered relationships with your teams, each of the division leaders & executive team members to understand their marketing, sales & business goals.
  • Performance Expectations: You have directly contributed to driving new brands as qualified MQLs or SQLs as well as have closed at least 1 new deal.
  • Process Improvement: You will have identified opportunities for improvement with our current processes & sales tech stack and made significant strides towards addressing those gaps, leveraging AI where appropriate.
  • Roadmap Creation: You will have created a 2 year roadmap of objectives for the Sales & Marketing Division that support overall business goals, and defined and allocated the resources you need to accomplish them. You will present this roadmap to Seer’s Executive Team.
