Ewan Nurse has a diverse work experience. In 2011, they were a research assistant at the University of Melbourne. Ewan then worked as a summer vacation student at the Defence Science and Technology Group in 2012. In 2014, they were a research assistant at the Vascular Bionics Laboratory. From 2015 to 2016, they served as a tutor/demonstrator at the University of Melbourne. Ewan had an internship at IBM Research Australia from 2016 to 2017, where they were a member of the Brain-Inspired Computing research group. Ewan joined St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne as a member of the Human Research Ethics Committee in 2020. Ewan has been associated with the University of Melbourne since 2018, first as a fellow and later as a senior fellow. Ewan is currently working at Seer as the Director of Epilepsy Research. Ewan is also an external co-supervisor at Swinburne University of Technology.
Ewan Nurse completed their Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering Systems at the University of Melbourne from 2007 to 2011. Ewan then pursued a Master of Engineering (Distinction) in Biomedical Engineering at the same university from 2012 to 2013. Ewan went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Melbourne, completing their studies in 2017. Additionally, in 2011, they obtained a Certificate IV in Business Administration from Origin HR.
