Mary Martin

Educational Consultant at Seidlitz Education

Mary Martin is the co-author of ELs in Texas: What School Leaders Need to Know, 3rd edition. She grew up traveling between the Texas and Mexico border building a bilingual, biliterate, bicultural identity, and a passion for the success of the marginalized in public schools. Mary has provided professional development at the local, state, and national levels focusing on EL student achievement and program design.

As a district-level Director of Language Acquisition, Mary developed, implemented, and supervised successful PK-6th Spanish Dual Language and Vietnamese bilingual programs, PK-12th ESL programs, and secondary World Languages programs. During her time as director limited English proficient identified students and former identified limited English students performed above the region and state levels on state assessments in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Mary M. Martin received a B.A. in English and minor in Spanish from Francis Marion University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas. She is an independent educational consultant and the owner of English Learner Program and Compliance Solutions (ELPACS) focusing on building strong English Learner programs and supportive instructional practices. She has 25+ years of experience working with ELs, coaching campus and district-level administrators, and designing and implementing campus and district-level programs and curriculum.
