Steve Koffroth has extensive work experience in various roles related to labor relations and negotiations. Steve started their career as an AFSCME Representative at the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles in 2007 and held the same position at multiple cities, including City of West Hollywood, City of Ontario, City of Bellflower, and City of Huntington Park. In 2010, they also became an AFSCME Representative at Cathedral City. In 2012, they joined the Oversight Board for the former CRA/LA - DLA as an Oversight Board Member, responsible for overseeing the wind-down of the agency. In 2007, they started working at AFSCME Council 36, initially as a Business Representative, where they handled negotiations, grievances, and disciplinary representation for seven local unions. Later, they became a Field Director, taking on additional responsibilities such as training and advising officers and members, serving as a legislative and political advocate, and managing contract interpretation and dispute resolution. In 2020, they became the Chief Negotiator at SEIU Local 721.
Steve Koffroth has a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from California State University, Fullerton, which they obtained from 1986 to 1991. In 2014, they attended the Harvard Kennedy School, where they completed the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program, focusing on the field of State and Local Government.
