SeKON has an opportunity for a Linux Systems Engineer to join our talented and innovative team supporting the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience performing highly complex software engineering activities using engineering concepts and software techniques considered “state-of-the-art”.
  • Conversant in several computing languages and may be considered an expert in the J2EE and/or .NET framework.
  • Implementation experience on several COTS-based solutions across a variety of computing platforms is required as is an understanding of intricacies of the implementation integration of these systems.
  • Task leadership experience and qualifications in technical leadership related to focused development efforts.
  • Building solutions that must work in 7x24 environments and 99% uptime requirements.
  • Solutions aimed at Federal Government requirements.
  • Maintains an understanding of information and data management, metadata management, modeling, XML, content management, document management.
  • Take ownership of high-level tasks, schedule and resources and be capable of delivering with minimal direction.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, scientific, computer science, operations research, business or related field or minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Eligible for Public Trust Clearance
  • Working knowledge in all aspects of automation, telecommunications, and IT networks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience performing server systems design, implementation and administration and analyzing system failures to minimize outages and interruptions.
  • Experience with AWS services such as SQS, S3, API Gateway and SNS
  • Currently AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional certification
  • Current RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
  • System engineering experience taking project from initial concepts through planning and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of SAN, clustering, backup and other enterprise applications to maintain availability and recoverability of systems.
