Kenneth Varner has worked in the medical device industry since 2013. From 2013-2014, they were a Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University, where they advised and supervised interdisciplinary groups on their year-long BME design projects. In 2014, they were a Summer Intern at MB Innovations, where they contributed to the company's process of taking a novel device through 510k approval and designed a device used to retrieve an acetabular reamer used in hip arthroplasty. From 2015-2016, they were an R&D Engineer I at CONMED Corporation, part of the AirSeal iFS team, where they developed two major software upgrades for the device, designed new control systems, improved the customer interface, integrated new hardware, and fixed bugs. Since 2018, they have been a Verification & Validation Engineer at Selux Diagnostics, Inc, pioneering a new era in personalized medicine with the development of a Next Generation Phenotyping (NGP) platform.
Kenneth Varner attended Vanderbilt University from 2009 to 2013, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering. In 2011, they also attended UNSW. From 2013 to 2015, they attended Carnegie Mellon University, where they earned a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering & Engineering and Technology Innovation Management.
