Ian Thompson is an experienced urban planner specializing in transportation planning and programming. Currently serving as a Planner II at SEMCOG, Ian focuses on freight, transit, and federal transportation performance measures, while also managing the development and monitoring of various programs and projects. Prior roles include Planner I at Michigan State University School of Planning, Design and Construction, where Ian contributed to the Sustainable Built Environment Initiative and Safe Route to School projects. Additional experience includes positions at Michigan State University Extension, SXSW, and Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, showcasing a diverse background in project management, education, and stakeholder engagement.
