Kihara Karua

Karua Kihara is a Kenyan software engineer and lead engineer at Sendy, a company that provides a platform for businesses to manage their customer communications. Kihara was previously a lead software engineer at Tala, where they were tasked with building highly scalable and reliable applications with low latency requirements. During their time at Tala, they designed and built a data ingestion framework to enable developers to quickly build high throughput data pipelines, and designed and built a framework to allow developers and data analysts to quickly and easily respond to fraud vectors. Kihara also built tools to make it easy for software developers to build applications that are robust and resilient to failures, as well as tools to increase developer productivity. Her technical skills include Scala, Akka, the Play! framework, MySQL, Amazon Web Services, Kafka, Cassandra, and SnowFlake.

Kihara Karua received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Mbarara University of Science & Technology. Kihara specialized in Data Communications Engineering.
