Russell Baker

Russell Baker is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in media relations and issues management. Currently serving as Manager of Media Relations and Issues Management for the City of Toronto since May 2023, Russell leads a diverse team to enhance brand trust and advance the city's reputation through strategic communication. Russell's involvement extends to numerous committees, including co-chairing the Emergency Risk Communicators Network and participating in emergency management and planning groups. Prior roles include Manager of Public and Media Relations at the Nuclear Waste Management Organization, Spokesperson and Issues Manager at Toronto Hydro, and Communications Specialist at York Region Rapid Transit Corporation. Russell also contributes as a Board Member for the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention and offers insights on the Public Relations - Corporate Communications program at Seneca Polytechnic. Russell holds an Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Corporate Communications from Seneca Polytechnic and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph.
