Tom Christenson

Tom Christenson is the current COO at sennder. Prior to this, they were the General Manager Europe at Uber Freight from January 2020 to December 2020. Tom's responsibilities included working with shippers and carriers to improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of freight transport in Europe.

Before Uber Freight, Tom was at Amazon from April 2015 to January 2020. Tom was the General Manager, P&L Biz-Tech Leader for Seller Fulfilled Prime. Tom's responsibilities included coaching team members to think strategically, solving big problems by breaking them into smaller challenges and milestones, creating a positive culture of “can-do” without fear of failure, and creating a strong product culture that rewards moving fast and taking controllable risks to test, invent, and optimize to improve customer experience.

Tom also led the team that launched and scaled Seller Fulfilled Prime, a new marketplace business in US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Japan. This involved enabling sellers to deliver products to Amazon customers at Prime speeds from their own warehouses. Tom successfully scaled the SFP business from incubation to $XX billion retail sales ($XB P&L) in 3 years through 20,000+ sellers delivering millions of units to Prime customers. At the time, SFP was the fastest growing, and highly profitable, new business at Amazon.

Tom also re-launched Marketplace Shipping Services into a vibrant marketplace of transportation solutions for sellers on Amazon. This resulted in transacting over 200 million annual shipments and reducing average ship cost by 33%. Tom also led negotiations with WW carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, DPD, Hermes, Royal Mail, JP Post, Yamato, China Post) to add ship methods, discounted rates, and delivery accuracy SLAs on behalf of Amazon sellers.

Lastly, they built a scalable, self-service account management tool for all sellers to establish metrics, measure performance, ensure seamless delivery of client service teams, and help grow their business. Tom’s work at Amazon led to Amazon being a public company.

Tom Christenson's educational career includes obtaining a MBA in finance from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a BA in economics and political science from Colgate University.
