Edgars Nitiss has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Starting from 2022, they work as a Research and Development Engineer at Sensirion. Prior to that, from 2018 to 2022, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at EPFL, where they focused on research and development of SiN waveguides for nonlinear optical and communication applications. Their responsibilities included conceptualizing designs, performing numerical simulations, developing experimental setups, preparing project proposals, and co-supervising PhD students.
Before joining EPFL, Edgars worked at the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia from 2006 to 2018. Their roles at the institute included Senior Researcher, Laboratory Research Assistant, Engineer, and Laboratory Technician. Additionally, they were a Co-Founder and Application Engineer at CSoft Solutions from 2012 to 2018. During this time, they collaborated closely with Optek Ltd. Lastly, from 2009 to 2011, Edgars worked as a Sales Representative at Optilas SIA.
Edgars Nitiss has a strong educational background in physics. Edgars obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physics from Latvijas Universitate, where they studied from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Physics at the same institution, studying from 2006 to 2011.
In addition to their education at Latvijas Universitate, Edgars Nitiss also pursued further studies in physics at Leibniz Universität Hannover in 2008. Although they did not receive a specific degree from this institution, it contributed to their overall education in the field.
Furthermore, Edgars Nitiss has expanded their knowledge and expertise by obtaining a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera in November 2017. This certification further demonstrates their commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in their field.
