"San Martín was the fourth of five children of Juan de San Martín, an unsuccessful Spanish soldier, and Gregoria Matorras del Ser. Will's father was born in Cádiz, Spain, and served as a captain in the Spanish Army." - this sentence is a bit of a mouthful. I think it might be better to split it into two.
