Bartholomew Roland, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience beginning in 2003. From 2003-2007, they worked as a Laboratory Intern at The Dow Chemical Company, where they provided analytical chemistry R&D support and received GLP training. From 2007-2014, they worked as a Vivarium Technician at Central Michigan University. From 2014-2019, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Vanderbilt University, where they studied how the composition and architecture of cellular membranes influences cell biology and tissue physiology. From 2019-2020, they worked as a Scientist at Vanderbilt Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery, where they supported industry-partnered drug discovery projects targeting GPCRs for the treatment of psychiatric disease. From 2021-2022, they worked as a Senior Scientist and Scientist II at Abalone Bio, where they supported the development of Abalone Bio's antibody display platform and improved functional assays for screening antibody libraries targeting GPCRs. Currently, they are a Staff Scientist at Septerna, where they support an early stage small molecule drug discovery program targeting a GPCR associated with inflammatory pathways.

Bartholomew Roland, Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience from Central Michigan University between 2004 and 2008. Bartholomew then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Pharmacology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine from 2008 to 2014. In 2017, they obtained a certification in Management and Business Principles for Scientists from Vanderbilt University. In 2020, they obtained a certification in GCP and Basics of Health Privacy from the CITI Program, a Division of BRANY.
