Denis Bertrand

Head bioinformatics at SeqOne Genomics

Denis Bertrand has over 15 years of experience in the bioinformatics field. In 2020, they were appointed as the Head Bioinformatics and Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at SeqOne Genomics. From 2010 to 2020, they were a Staff Scientist at the Genome Institute of Singapore where they developed methods to identify cancer driver genes and worked on Illumina shotgun, RNA-seq and Nanopore sequencing data. From 2006 to 2010, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Université de Montréal where they developed methods to study genome evolution with models including tandem duplication and whole genome duplication. From 2005 to 2006, they were a Teaching Assistant at the Université Montpellier 2 where they developed phylogeny inference methods to study the evolution of tandemly repeated genes, as well as teaching 96 hours of computational related courses in C++ and functional programming.

Denis Bertrand studied at the University of Montpellier from 1996 to 2005, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science.
