Douglas Smith

Douglas Smith has worked in the biotechnology industry since 1986. Douglas began their career at Genome Therapeutics Corp., where they held the role of Sr. Scientific Advisor, Genomics and Technology for 16 years. In 2003, they moved to Agencourt Bioscience, Division of Beckman Coulter, where they were the Director, Science and Technology. In 2009, they joined Beckman Coulter Genomics as the Director, Bioinformatics & Technology Development. In 2014, they became the Senior Research Director, Genomic Science at Courtagen Life Sciences, Inc. and, in 2017, they became an Independent Consultant. Currently, they are the Sr. VP, R&D and Chief Scientific Officer at SeQure Dx.

Douglas Smith obtained their B.Sc. in Biochemistry from McGill University between 1974 and 1977, and then went on to earn their Ph.D in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Cornell University between 1977 and 1981.
