Joyce Avila

Joyce Avila has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Joyce currently holds the position of Program Lead, Data Cloud at Sercante since June 2023. Prior to that, they worked at O'Reilly Media, where they authored various publications related to Snowflake, including the "Snowflake: Definitive Guide" book, sponsored by Snowflake.

From January 2022 to May 2023, Joyce served as a Senior Manager and then as a Practice Lead, Snowflake at SpringML, Inc. Joyce'sresponsibilities included people management, pre-sales, opportunity participation, and project management. Joyce significantly contributed to increasing Snowflake certifications and accreditations within the company, and their efforts were recognized multiple times by their colleagues.

Before their time at SpringML, Joyce worked as a Principal Consultant at SpringML, Inc. from March 2021 to January 2022. Joyce completed and oversaw numerous Salesforce implementations, earning a Salesforce MVP award for their work in 2021.

Joyce also gained valuable experience during their time at Lockheed Martin as a Senior Design Project Team Member, where they demonstrated their ability to function on a multi-disciplinary team and design systems to meet stakeholders' needs.

Joyce worked as a Software Developer specializing in ETL and Salesforce at USAA from June 2017 to May 2019. During this time, they partnered with team members on various projects, including custom application design and development using Agile methodologies.

Joyce also had their entrepreneurial venture as the CEO and Founder of Lonestar3D from November 2014 to October 2018. Joyce developed a 3D food printer system with applications in STEM education and healthcare. Joyce was actively involved in various industry groups related to additive manufacturing standardization and consumer technology.

Prior to that, they had experience in e-commerce and retail management as a Certified Public Accountant in their own private practice. Joyce secured licenses and distribution agreements with major manufacturers, developed successful marketing campaigns, and managed a product distribution warehouse.

In addition, Joyce had internships at USAA in 2016 as a Mobile Application Developer and at the University of Texas Arlington Research Institute as a Research Assistant.

Joyce also participated in an Entrepreneurship Fellowship program funded by the National Science Foundation Innovation Corp, where they actively explored their entrepreneurial ideas.

Joyce Avila completed their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Arlington, starting in 2013 and ending in 2020. Joyce also completed coursework for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting Information Systems at the same university, from 1996 to 2001. Prior to that, Joyce obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Accounting from California State University, Fresno in 1993-1994. Joyce earned their first Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Business/Management from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, which they completed before 1990.

In terms of additional certifications, Joyce obtained various credentials related to Salesforce and Snowflake.
