Mary-Jane Lombardo McKenzie

Mary-Jane Lombardo McKenzie is an experienced microbiologist with a strong background in both research and leadership roles. Currently serving as Director and Principal Scientist in Microbiology at Seres Therapeutics since 2012, McKenzie contributes to the development of innovative medicines targeting microbiome-related diseases. Previous positions include a consulting role at Sample6 and editorial work at BioScience Writers, LLC, where McKenzie specialized in scientific document revision. Additional experience includes serving as a Staff Scientist at the J. Craig Venter Institute, focusing on single cell genomics, and conducting postdoctoral research at institutions such as the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Baylor College of Medicine, with a focus on bacterial genetics and pathogenesis. McKenzie earned a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a B.S. in Biology from William & Mary.
