Derek Pedersen

Derek Pedersen has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple roles and industries. Derek began their career as a Courtesy Clerk at Safeway in 2002 and later worked as a Shift Lead at Little Caesars Pizza from 2005 to 2009. Derek then worked as a Sales Associate at TOURATECH-USA from 2010 to 2012, where they primarily handled customer returns and processed internet orders.

In 2012, Pedersen transitioned into software development and joined ATGStores.com as a Software Engineer, where they developed and maintained various business applications. Derek later became a Software Development Team Lead and oversaw the design, development, and implementation of web-based solutions utilizing the full .NET stack. In 2015, they were acquired by Lowe's Companies, Inc. and continued their role as a Senior Software Developer, working on re-architecting an eCommerce platform and implementing continuous delivery practices.

Pedersen then joined iTrellis, LLC in 2016 as a Software Engineer. Derek assisted clients in maintaining their application portfolios, improving development practices, and achieving faster delivery rates. In 2018, they moved on to MultiScale Health Networks as a Software Engineer.

From 2019 to 2022, Pedersen joined Navigating Cancer as a Senior Software Engineer. Derek was part of a team leading the transition from an ECS-based approach to an EKS-based one, involving the breaking apart of monolithic application deployments and adopting a CI/CD development workflow.

Most recently, Pedersen is a Founding Software Engineer at Serif Health, starting in 2022.

Derek Pedersen has an extensive education history. Derek obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Eastern Washington University starting in 2022. Prior to that, from 2005 to 2010, Derek pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Philosophy & Economics as a double major at Western Washington University. Additionally, in the year 2010 through 2011, Derek pursued a Certificate of Achievement in Database Design and Administration from Seattle Central College.

In addition to their formal education, Derek also holds two certifications as an ICAgile Certified Professional (ICP). The institutions from which they obtained these certifications and the specific dates are not provided.
