Matt started their career in 2009 as a Hardware Engineering Intern at Apple Inc., where they conducted power usage profiling and RF testing. Matt then worked as a Research Assistant at the Lagrangian Sensor Systems Laboratory at UC Berkeley, assisting in the design and layout of a water drifter sensor platform.
In 2010, Matt tutored students in lower division electrical engineering classes at UC Berkeley while also working as an ASIC Design Engineer Intern at Uniquify Inc., gaining experience in ASIC physical design and static timing analysis. Matt later became a full-time ASIC Design Engineer at Uniquify Inc., further developing their skills in tool configuration and log analysis.
From 2011 to 2015, Matt worked at Lab126, first as a Hardware Engineer and then as a Hardware Engineer II. During this time, they served as the lead Electrical Engineer for the Amazon Echo Dot and managed schematic and design reviews for Kindle Fire projects. Matt was also the owner of the audio and haptics electrical subsystems for the Amazon Fire Phone.
