Marie Gehringer, CHC, has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Marie began their career as a Vocational Coordinator/Employment Specialist at Goodwill Industries of Mid-Eastern PA from 1990 to 1993. In this role, Marie assessed work readiness skills for individuals with disabilities, conducted job search activities, and provided on-the-job training.
From 1993 onwards, Marie joined Service Access & Management, Inc. (SAM) where they held various positions. Marie started as a Case Manager, responsible for locating, coordinating, and monitoring developmental disability services for a caseload of over 60 individuals.
In 1997, Marie was promoted to the role of Case Management Supervisor. In this role, they provided coaching and supervision to eight case managers in the Developmental Disabilities Department, ensuring that cases met Medical Assistance requirements for Targeted Service Management (TSM) services. Marie also played a key role in implementing the Person Family Directed Support Waiver (PFDSW).
In 2001, Marie transitioned to the position of Utilization Manager, where they were instrumental in forming a new department and developing its job duties. Their responsibilities included authorizing payments for services and ensuring compliance with various funding streams. Marie also created services rendered reports and tracked funding sources.
In 2009, Marie became the Director of Waiver Administration, overseeing a department of six staff members. Their duties included implementing and administering 43 administrative service functions purchased by the Berks County Office of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities. Marie also handled various responsibilities such as incident management, risk management, quality management, capacity management, provider qualification and monitoring, eligibility determination for IDD services, certification and recertification activities, and administrative review of service plans.
More recently, since May 2021, Marie has been serving as the Compliance Director at SAM. Their responsibilities in this role include ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and leading auditing activities.
Throughout their career, Marie has demonstrated strong leadership skills, making significant contributions to the organizations they have worked for.
Marie Gehringer, CHC holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Human Services from York College of Pennsylvania. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications throughout their career. These include being Certified in Health Care Compliance (CHC) by the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) in May 2022, obtaining the ODP Certified Investigator certification from the Office of Developmental Programs- Pennsylvania in June 2013, and becoming a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certified Instructor through The Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. and the International Association of Non Violent Crisis Intervention in April 2006.
