Douglas Caldwell is a Research Scientist and Principal Investigator at the SETI Institute, where work spans the intersection of instrumentation hardware and data analysis software. Caldwell currently serves as a Pipeline Support Scientist for the NASA Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) Mission and previously contributed to the Kepler Mission by developing science analysis routines and defining operational requirements. As the Principal Investigator for the South Pole Exoplanet Search, Caldwell led a project funded by a $255K National Science Foundation grant. Prior experience includes a research associate role at the National Research Council, focusing on the Vulcan transit search project at NASA Ames Research Center, and earlier work as an Electronics Engineer with the Naval Surface Warfare Center. Educational credentials include a PhD in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University.
