Embryology Clinic Assistant at Shady Grove Fertility

Sara Dawood is currently serving as a Postbaccalaureate CRTA Fellow at the National Cancer Institute, where the focus is on utilizing computational research to study the evolution of localized prostate cancer tumors and treatment resistance. Parallel to this role, Sara has been an Embryology Clinic Assistant at Shady Grove Fertility since August 2020 and is part of the Terps in Space Mission 17, leading a project accepted by the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education to explore microgravity's effects on telomeres and telomerase activity aboard the International Space Station, with an expected launch date of November 11, 2023. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, completed in May 2023 at the University of Maryland, complemented by a Minor in General Business. During academic tenure, Sara contributed as a Research Assistant in the Schiffmacher Lab, focusing on mammary gland development and stem cell biology, while also engaging in various leadership and mentoring roles, including serving as the Student Health Advisory Committee President and a Guided Study Session Leader in Organic Chemistry.
