Akhter Hossain

Akhter Hossain is the current Additional Managing Director & Member at Shahjalal Islami Bank. Prior to this, they were with Mercantile Bank Limited from October 2002 to June 2005 as an FX Dealer in the Treasury Department. Akhter started their professional career with Agrani Bank Limited in March 1988 and served there until December 2002, when they were promoted to Head of Branch of the Kurmitola Branch.

Akhter Hossain has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Hull in Financial Management, a Master of Commerce from the University of Dhaka in Accounting, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of Dhaka in Accounting. Akhter also has Higher Secondary education from Gournadi Govt. College Barisal and Secondary School Certificate education in Commerce from Palordi High School. In addition, they are a Diplomat Associate from The Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh (IBB) in Banking and Financial Support Services. Akhter also has various certifications from Dun & Bradstreet, the U.S. Department of Justice, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Habib American Bank, Mashreq Bank, and Wells Fargo.

They work with Nasim Sekander - Deputy Managing Director, Nazimuddoula - Deputy Managing Director, and Mahmudul Haque - SEVP & Member. Akhter Hossain reports to Muhammed Shahidul Islam, MD & Chairman.
