Lawrence Burnley

Lawrence Burnley, PhD, currently serves as the Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for the Shaker Heights City School District, a position held since January 2022. Previously, Burnley was the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Dayton from July 2016 to January 2022 and served as the Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as well as an Assistant Professor of History at Whitworth University from January 2010 to June 2016. At Whitworth University, responsibilities included leadership in the development, implementation, and assessment of the institution's strategic plan concerning diversity and intercultural relations. Lawrence Burnley earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the History of American Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
