Michael Jaramillo

Senior Chemist at Shannon & Wilson, Inc.

In his eight years at Shannon & Wilson, Michael has developed a high level of proficiency in managing projects, including Phase II environmental site assessments, regulatory compliance, site characterization and remediation investigations, waste characterization, storm water pollution prevention plans, and above-ground storage tank closure assessments. With a strong background and degrees in chemistry, he is the Lead Chemist on several Department of Defense (DoD) projects and leads the Fairbanks environmental group’s data review and validation quality assurance/quality control efforts. He is proficient in statistical analysis and database management of projects with large data sets, including landfills across urban and remote Alaska. He has held a Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) Certification by SWANA (Solid Waste Association of North America) and is an active, contributing member of the SWANA organization.

Michael’s expertise in the evaluation of analytical data has led to his involvement in the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities’ (DOT&PF) statewide response to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in Alaska. Michael serves as project manager for several of these high profile, public-relations based environmental projects where private drinking-water wells have potentially been impacted by per-and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS). These projects require community outreach activities, public relations support, rural community planning, site characterization and remediation investigations, waste characterization, agency coordination and technical support.
