Vishruti Makani

Vishruti Makani, PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Vishruti is currently working as an Associate Director- CLD and R&D Support at Shattuck Labs since October 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Senior Scientist in Cell Line Development and R&D Support at the same company from November 2021 to October 2022.

Before joining Shattuck Labs, Vishruti worked as a Process Development Scientist I at KBI Biopharma from July 2019 to December 2021. Vishruti also participated in a 2-week "Quantitative Sciences in Drug Development" hackathon organized by Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) in which they worked in a small interdisciplinary team on a R&D problem pertaining to Pharmacometrics. This hackathon took place from August 2018 to July 2019.

Vishruti has also held the position of a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine from November 2017 to June 2019. During this time, they worked on various projects including the development of lentivirus-like bionanoparticles for gene editing and the design of viral vectors for exon deletion. Vishruti also led a project on the production of miRNA-enriched exosomes for the study of cardiac fibrosis.

In addition, Vishruti worked as an Industry-Academia Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from September 2015 to October 2017. Vishruti'sresponsibilities included collaborating with scientists at Biogen on the characterization of therapeutic antibodies for Alzheimer's Disease and validating a tau transgenic mouse model.

Vishruti's work experience also includes roles as a Consultant intern at IXL Innovation Olympics at the Global Innovation Management Institute in 2016, a Consultant Intern at PBG Healthcare Consulting from February to May 2016, a Pre-doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Toledo from August 2010 to August 2015, a Teaching Assistant at Campbell University in 2010, and various roles including Research Assistant and Administrative Assistant at Campbell University from August 2008 to May 2010.

Vishruti Makani, PhD has an extensive education background in the field of biomedical sciences and pharmaceutical sciences. They obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from Nagpur University in 2007. Following this, they pursued a Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Campbell University, which they completed in 2010. They then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Sciences at The University of Toledo, which they completed in 2015. In 2019, they attended Duke University to study Regulatory Affairs. Additionally, Vishruti Makani obtained The Analyst Certificate (Level I) from the Management Consulting Institute in 2016.
