Russ Thornton

Russ Thornton is the current Chief Technology Officer at Shawbrook Bank. Russ has over fifteen years of experience in the field, having previously served as the CTO for WorldRemit, Aegon, and Legal and General.

Russ has a strong track record in delivering successful technical solutions and driving digital transformation. At WorldRemit, they were responsible for leading the technology team and overseeing all technical aspects of the business. Russ helped to grow the company from a startup to a leading international money transfer service.

At Aegon, Russ served as the Chief Digital Officer on an interim basis. Russ was responsible for leading the digital transformation of the company, including the development of new customer-facing digital channels.

At Legal and General, Russ was the IT Strategy & Architecture Director. In this role, they provided strategic leadership to the company, translating business strategy into realistic and actionable business and technology architecture designs. Russ also supported the IT and Change strategy for the company.
