Pedro Lara Jr (Pete)

Pedro (Pete) Lara Jr has an extensive background in public service and union leadership, with notable roles at SMART Transportation Division since January 2012, including Delegate and Treasurer, managing finances for five divisions with 1,500 members. As a Licensed Insurance Representative at the United Transportation Union Insurance Association, Pedro provides opportunities for insurance coverage while maintaining records. With over three decades of experience at LA County Metropolitan Transit Authority as a Bus Operator and briefly as an Acting Supervisor, skills in public transportation are evident. Pedro also has a history of volunteerism as a head coach in various sports from July 1992 to July 2017 and contributed as a volunteer with the LA County Sheriff’s Department. Additional expertise includes service as an Alternate Legislative Representative and Local Trustee at SMART Union and recent training at Wendelstedt Umpiring School, earning an Umpire Certificate.
