Sharyn Hillin

Sharyn Hillin has extensive experience in the field of special education, currently serving as Special Education Coordinator for the Shelby County Board of Education since February 2004, with previous roles including Special Education Supervisor, Program Area Specialist, and Assistant Principal. Prior to this, Sharyn held the position of Special Education Teacher at Linda Nolen Learning Center from January 1997 to February 2004 and at McAdory High School from August 1992 to January 1997. Sharyn's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Education and Diversity from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, obtained between 2017 and 2023, a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the same institution in 2011-2012, and a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 1995 to 1997. Additionally, Sharyn received certification in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Montevallo in 2004, following a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham obtained between 1988 and 1992.
