Odell Horton Jr.

Odell Horton currently serves as the General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer for Memphis-Shelby County Schools since September 2023. Prior to this role, Horton was a Partner at Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP from June 2007 to October 2023. Additional experience includes serving as Vice President and General Counsel for Memphis Light Gas and Water from August 2005 to May 2007, and various positions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, including Vice Chancellor and Assistant/Associate General Counsel from 1990 to 2005. Horton began a legal career as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Tennessee from 1987 to 1990. Education includes a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of Tennessee College of Law (1983-1986) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Morehouse College (1979-1983).
