Tia Jackson-Truitt, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning over 17 years. Tia currently serves as the Chief Diversity Officer at the Penn Museum of the University of Pennsylvania, where they collaborate with the executive team and department leaders to integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) into all aspects of the organization. Tia also provides consultation on DEI education and training programs, talent acquisition initiatives, and performance assessments.

Prior to this role, Tia worked as a DEI Training Manager Consultant for the Sheryl Sandberg & Dave Goldberg Family Foundation. In this role, they facilitated inclusive training sessions for DEI leaders, HR professionals, ERG leaders, and executives from various global companies. Tia managed logistics and technological requirements for training sessions and workshops.

Tia also founded their own consulting firm, Ask Dr Tia, LLC, where they offered their expertise as a trainer, speaker, and consultant on DEI topics.

Tia's previous experience includes positions at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they held roles such as Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Education and Training, Associate Director at the Center for Engineering Education & Diversity, Principal Empowerment Officer for the GRIOT Employee Resource Group, Assistant Director at the Center for Engineering Education and Diversity, and Program Manager for the National Science Foundation funded Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation program. In these roles, they developed and implemented diversity and inclusion curricula, led recruitment and retention initiatives, and managed budgets for student support and program activities.

Before working at Georgia Tech, Tia served as a Forensic Social Worker at the Dekalb County Public Defender's Office and as the Director of Day Program at Connections CSP, Inc., where they provided treatment programming and oversaw internal complaints processes.

Overall, Tia Jackson-Truitt, PhD has a wealth of experience in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and they have worked with various organizations to implement effective DEI strategies and programs.

Tia Jackson-Truitt, PhD has a strong educational background in the fields of Student Counseling and Personnel Services, Social Work, and Psychology. Tia completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Student Counseling and Personnel Services from the UGA Mary Frances Early College of Education, with a time period of study from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Social Work, during the period of 2001 to 2003. Their undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware, where they studied from 1997 to 2001.

In addition to their academic achievements, Tia Jackson-Truitt has obtained a certification in Instructional Design from the Association for Talent Development. This certification was achieved in August 2020.
