Ross Manson

Chief Engineer - Towage at SHETLAND ISLANDS COUNCIL

Ross Manson has a diverse work experience in the maritime industry. Ross started their career as a 3rd Engineer at Anglo Eastern Ship Management in 2006 and worked there until 2011. Ross then worked as a 2nd Engineer at North Star Shipping from 2011 to 2012. Ross also had agency work as a 3rd Engineer from 2012 to 2014. Ross Manson joined Sealion Shipping Limited as a 3rd Engineer (DP) in 2013 and worked there until 2016. Ross also worked as an Engineer (Relief) at NorthLink Ferries in 2016. In the same year, they were available for immediate work as an Experienced 3/E. From 2016 to 2019, Ross Manson worked at Shetland Islands Council in various engineering roles, including Chief Engineer and Second Engineer in the towage department. In 2016 and 2017, they also worked as a Second Engineer onboard the motor yacht Balista, where they had additional responsibilities in AVIT and deck assistance.

Ross Manson has a comprehensive education history in the field of maritime engineering. Ross attended Anderson High School from 2000 to 2005, completing their secondary education. In 2006, Ross enrolled in Warsash Maritime Academy, where they pursued a degree in Marine Engineering & STCW III/1 EOOW Unlimited, which they successfully completed in 2009.

In 2015, Ross pursued further education at Warsash Maritime Academy, specializing in STCW III/2 Second Engineer Unlimited. Continuing their education, they attended an unidentified institution in 2018 to focus on Chief Engineer <9000kW.

Ross Manson obtained a Chief Engineer (Unlimited) certification from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, although the exact time of attainment is not specified.

In 2021, Ross attended South Shields Marine School to obtain a Chief Engineer Unlimited degree. Subsequently, in 2023, they enrolled in Glasgow Maritime Academy to further their studies in High Voltage Management Level.
