Carey Newlon, RPh, LSSBB has over 24 years of work experience in the pharmacy field. Starting in 1995, Carey worked as a Pharmacy Consultant at Drug Systems Pharmacy for a year before transitioning to Walgreens in 1996, where they served as a Pharmacy Manager for four years. In 2000, Carey joined Kaiser Permanente and held various roles throughout their tenure, including Supervisor, Colorado Pharmacy Improvement Program (2001-2002), Chief Pharmacist, Training and Development Supervisor (2002-2005), and Area Pharmacy Manager (2005-2007). As an Area Pharmacy Manager, Carey managed eight outpatient pharmacy locations, achieving high standards of patient satisfaction and serving as the Pharmacy Operations Liaison for the Drug Utilization Management Committee. From 2007 to 2018, Carey served as Chief Pharmacist, Pharmacy Strategy and Optimization at Kaiser Permanente, leading internal pharmacy process improvement initiatives. They coached 80 team members, resulting in increased staff satisfaction and saved staff time. Additionally, Carey mentored a team through a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt project that enhanced staff satisfaction and doubled capacity. Currently, Carey is the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Operations - Frontier Region at Shields Health Solutions, a position they have held since February 2019.

Carey Newlon, RPh, LSSBB holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. In addition to their education, Carey has obtained multiple certifications throughout their career. Carey has completed a Team Management certification from McKinsey & Company in December 2020. In July 2018, they obtained a certification in Academy for Excellence in Healthcare from Fisher College of Business Executive Education. In November 2012, they achieved a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from SixSigma.us. Prior to that, in December 2009, Carey obtained an Improvement Advisor certification. Carey also holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from De Kiewiet Associates, which they obtained in December 2007. Additionally, Carey is registered as a Pharmacist with the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy.
