Victorio Shaw

Victorio Shaw has a diverse work experience in various legal roles. Victorio has served as Chief Judge for both the Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria and the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians. Victorio also worked as an Appellate Court Judge for the Wilton Tribal Court of Appeals. Additionally, Victorio has worked as an ICWA Specialist for the Indian Child & Family Preservation Program and as an Instructor at the University of California, Davis, teaching Federal Indian Law. Victorio has also practiced law as a Sole Proprietor at the Law Office of Victorio L. Shaw, specializing in representing Native Americans in various areas of the law. Victorio has served as a Board Member for the California Indian Legal Services and worked as a Project Strategist at the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation's California Tribal College. Prior to this, they worked as an Attorney at La Pena Law Corporation and as an Instructor for Federal Indian Law at UC Davis.

Victorio Shaw completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Graphic Design and Studio Art at Humboldt State University from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2001, they attended San Jose State University where they studied Marketing. Shaw then pursued higher education at the University of California, Davis - School of Law, from 2008 to 2011, where they earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree with a specialization in Federal Indian Law.

The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians is a federally recognized Native American Tribe practicing sovereignty and self-sufficiency. Our vision is to empower Tribal Members to thrive in the modern world while preserving their cultural foundations. The Tribe provides healthcare to many within the local community through the Shingle Springs Health and Wellness Center (Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Pharmacy). We also offer outreach services through the Shingle Springs Tribal TANF Program in Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer and Yolo Counties. The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians is deeply committed to sustaining and improving the quality of life for both Tribal Members and the general community alike. This guiding principle is a responsibility and a privilege of the Tribe as it strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of its members, employees and patrons.
