Jason Hokama

Jason Hokama, PhD has extensive work experience in the medical field, particularly in medical affairs and clinical sciences. Jason is currently the Sr. Director of Medical Affairs at Shockwave Medical, Inc., where they have been in this role since January 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Clinical Sciences at Shockwave Medical from January 2019 to January 2021.

Before joining Shockwave Medical, Dr. Hokama worked at Edwards Lifesciences as the Senior Manager of THV Medical Affairs - Scientific Communications from December 2015 to January 2019. Jason also gained experience at HeartWare Inc as the Manager of Medical Affairs from March 2013 to December 2015, and as a Clinical Specialist from September 2011 to March 2013.

Dr. Hokama's earlier experience includes working at SynCardia Systems, Inc. as a Clinical Consultant from January 2008 to September 2011. In this role, they led field training, clinical proctoring, and provided clinical support for various projects and studies.

Additionally, Dr. Hokama served as the Director of Experimental Biology and Physiology at the University of California, Irvine from May 2003 to June 2007. Prior to that, they held positions at International Beauty Design, Inc., including serving as President from August 2001 to February 2003 and as an Information Development Officer from August 2000 to August 2001.

Jason Hokama, PhD received their Bachelor's Degree in Physiology/Chemistry from California State University, Long Beach in 1993. Jason then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Exercise Biochemistry from the University of Arizona from 1993 to 1995. Following that, they obtained their Ph.D. in Physiology/Pharmacology from the University of Arizona from 1995 to 1999. Finally, they completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard Medical School from 1999 to 2000, specializing in Physiology.
