Zi Liang Chong

Zi Liang Chong has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Zi Liang started their career as a journalist and photojournalist at Nepali Times in 2009. Zi Liang then joined The Straits Times and held multiple roles, including Journalist, Sub-editor, Digital sub-editor, and Political correspondent. While at The Straits Times, they covered breaking news, political parties, and elections, and incorporated multimedia tools for effective reporting.

In 2017, Zi Liang Chong moved to Asia Pulp & Paper as a Senior Communications Manager. Zi Liang then joined Citi in 2018 as an Assistant Vice President, where they handled external and internal communications for Citi Singapore's consumer banking division. Their responsibilities also included media pitching and working with C-suite executives.

In 2019, Zi Liang Chong joined General Assembly as a Student, completing the Data Science Immersive program. Zi Liang created an indicator of economic and business sentiment based on articles from The Business Times. Zi Liang also worked as an Instructional Associate, aiding in reviewing curriculum and guiding students in their data science projects.

In 2020, they joined 99.co as a Junior Data Analyst and later took on the role of Data Analyst. In these positions, they analyzed website and mobile app data, collaborated with product managers within the scrum framework, and optimized user experience for property seekers.

Currently, Zi Liang Chong is working at ShopBack as a Senior Data Analyst. Zi Liang is part of the financial services team, responsible for organizing data related to ShopBack Pay and ShopBack PayLater into user-friendly formats. Zi Liang utilizes tools like dbt and Airflow and supports stakeholders in making informed decisions regarding order volume, customer retention, and revenue.

Zi Liang Chong completed a Data Science Immersive program at General Assembly in 2019. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2010, Zi Liang Chong attended Nanyang Technological University Singapore and earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Communication Studies. Additionally, in 2008, Zi Liang Chong attended Elon University to study Communication Studies. Apart from formal education, Zi Liang Chong obtained several certifications. These include "Tableau Data Scientist" and "Tableau Analyst" from Tableau Software in June 2020 and May 2020, respectively. In August 2019, Zi Liang Chong completed the "Interactive Python Dashboards with Plotly and Dash" certification program from Udemy. In 2019, Zi Liang Chong earned certifications in "NLP - Natural Language Processing with Python" and "Python for Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp" from Udemy. In 2018, Zi Liang Chong completed the "Python for Everybody Specialization" from Coursera and "Tableau 10 A-Z: Hands-On Tableau Training For Data Science!" from Udemy.
