Senior Test Engineer at ShopKeep

Syed Hussain has a strong background in software engineering and quality assurance. Syed started their career at Tone™ in 2013 as a QA Engineer, where they utilized Appium and Cucumber to test mobile Android applications and Selenium PageObject/PageFactory to test web applications. Syed added new test cases as new features were introduced.

In 2016, Syed joined Madison Logic as a QA Engineer, where they researched, designed, and implemented scalable testing programs for sub-systems. Syed also developed programs in Python, leveraging AWS resources such as EC2, S3, DynamoDB, and Kinesis. Syed collaborated with the QA Lead on large projects, delivering UI-facing tools for developers to monitor the health of their systems. Later, they transitioned to the role of Software Engineer I, where they worked closely with team members to plan, design, and develop robust solutions for the client-facing reporting system. Syed maintained the existing code base and added features based on business requirements.

Most recently, Syed joined ShopKeep in 2018 as a Senior Test Engineer. Here, they transformed the organizational testing approach by advocating for and implementing automation. Syed worked on automation tickets for each sprint to add to the regression suite. Additionally, they coached developers on testing best practices and helped generate edge cases for automated tests of new features.

Syed Hussain earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from CUNY New York City College of Technology from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, they obtained certifications including AWS Certified Developer - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in May 2020, SAFe 5 Practitioner Certification from Scaled Agile, Inc. in November 2020, and AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in November 2017.
