Seth McCarthy

Seth McCarthy has worked in a variety of roles since 2004. Seth has held the role of Cavalry Scout in the Army National Guard since 2004, and was a Tutor at Central Oregon Community College from 2006. From 2007 to 2010, they were a Senior Software Test Engineer at Symyx Technologies, where they acted as a test lead on large projects, managed up to 8 testers, created and evangelized a test automation strategy, and provided insightful requirements and test analysis. In 2010, they moved to Accelrys Inc. as an Advisory Software Engineer, where they worked directly with customers to understand usage patterns and software problems, simplified the worst areas of technical debt, and frequently managed high-visibility projects on difficult schedules. From 2014 to 2018, they were employed at BIOVIA as a Senior Manager and Software Architect. In this role, they worked in an architect role for several products, worked closely with both customers and customer facing parts of the organization to ensure software projects were on target, and provided technical and project leadership to a cross functional agile team. Since 2018, they have been working as a Principal Software Engineer, Staff Software Engineer, Engineering Manager, and Senior Software Engineer at Olo. Most recently, they have been working as a Principal Engineer at Highlight since 2022.

Seth McCarthy obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Oregon in 2008. In 2018, they obtained a Sumo Power User certification from Sumo Logic. The following year, they obtained a Sumo Pro User certification from Sumo Logic.
