Evert Coetzer has over 20 years of experience in metalliferous mining, primarily in the South African mining environment. Evert has held various leadership positions at Sibanye-Stillwater, including Vice President & Head of Operations, where they lead a team responsible for the safe production of PGM ounces. Evert has also served as a Mine Manager at Sibanye-Stillwater, overseeing challenging operations and achieving industry-first safety milestones. Prior to their time at Sibanye-Stillwater, they worked at Lonmin Plc and Lonmin Platinum, where they held roles such as Acting General Manager, Acting Vice President, Mine Manager, Relieving Section Manager, Mine Overseer, Technical Assistant, Production Shift Supervisor, and Miner/Learner Official. Throughout their career, Evert has demonstrated a talent for improving performance and safety in mining operations.
Evert Coetzer obtained a BSC (Eng) in Mining from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2007. Evert then received a Mine Managers Certificate of Competency from the Department of Minerals and Energy in 2008. In 2010, Evert attended the Wits Business School and completed the Management Advanced Programme. From 2021 to 2023, they pursued an Executive MBA with a focus on Business Administration and Management at Henley Business School. Additionally, Evert has obtained certifications from the Mining Qualifications Authority in Mining Operations Underground Narrow Tabular and Rockbreaking Underground Hardrock Narrow Tabular.
