Miguel de Brito Teixeira is an experienced professional in plant maintenance and utilities management, currently serving as the Plant Maintenance & Utilities Manager at Sidul Açúcares since October 2023. Previously, Miguel held the position of Head of Maintenance at SGL Carbon, focusing on energy transition initiatives from February 2021 to October 2023. With a solid foundation in mechanical maintenance, Miguel spent nearly two decades at The Navigator Company, culminating in the role of Mechanical Maintenance Manager, where responsibilities included overseeing multiple maintenance domains and influencing project strategies. Earlier in their career, Miguel contributed as a Quality Engineer at OGMA-Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal, S.A., and as a Maintenance Manager at Grupo Barraqueiro. Educationally, Miguel holds a degree in General Management from Nova School of Business and Economics and a postgraduate degree in Project Management from Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, alongside a mechanical engineering background from Instituto Superior Técnico.

With a turnover of around EUR 156 million, Sidul is the largest sugar refinery in the country. The Portuguese and Spanish markets represent over 90% of the sugar produced.
