CTO at Siemens Gamesa

Morten Pilgaard Rasmussen was appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy in January 2023.

Previously, he headed the Technology Department of the Offshore Business Unit at Siemens Gamesa from 2017, where his responsibilities included the development of the latest generation of direct drive offshore turbines.

With 28 years of experience in R&D and engineering, including 20 years in the wind industry, he has a profound understanding of the technological development of this industry at all levels and across all market segments and technologies.

After his first positions at ABB and Dantrafo, he led and successfully grew international teams in all areas of turbine development as an executive during his career at Bonus A/S, Siemens Wind Power and finally Siemens Gamesa.

As Head of Technology at Siemens Wind Power from 2013, Morten Pilgaard Rasmussen was instrumental in launching the world's most technologically advanced offshore platforms to date. Together with his team, he also successfully introduced the Direct Drive platforms for onshore and brought them to technological maturity.

After a dynamic growth phase, he defined new processes and standards in close coordination with Procurement and Production to significantly improve efficiency and product quality. In his new role, his focus will again be on working closely with the COO and the business unit CEOs with the aim of closely integrating technology, operations and the business.

Morten Pilgaard Rasmussen studied Electrical Engineering at Aarhus University.
