Joseph Walsh

Principal Scientist at Siemens Healthineers

Joseph Walsh, Ph.D. has had an extensive work experience in the field of radiochemistry and PET imaging. Joseph started their career as a graduate student at UCLA where they focused on developing synthesizing methods for [F-18]-labeled derivatives for tagging bio-macromolecules. Joseph then worked as a post-doc at UCLA, where they initiated a project to develop an [F-18]-labeled prosthetic group for thiol-specific labelings.

In 2001, Joseph joined MTI - Siemens MI as a Scientist, where they worked until 2007. Joseph then joined Siemens MI Biomarker Research as a Sr. Scientist and later became the Head of Chemistry until the end of 2008.

In 2009, Joseph joined Siemens Healthcare, where they held the position of Director of Radiochemistry. Joseph was responsible for enabling sites to manufacture [F-18]-labeled radiotracers for PET imaging applications, with a major focus on the use of Siemens' Explora One automated radiosynthesis module.

Overall, Joseph Walsh, Ph.D. has a strong background in radiochemistry and PET imaging, with a particular focus on developing methods for radiotracer synthesis and labeling.

Dr. Joseph Walsh obtained a B.S. degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1993. Joseph then pursued a Ph.D. in Organometallics at UCLA from 1993 to 1998. Following their Ph.D., they completed a post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA from 1999 to 2001, focusing on Carbohydrates and 18F-labeling.
