Mahyar Sorour

Mahyar Sorour currently serves as the Director of the Beyond Fossil Fuels Policy at Sierra Club, where responsibilities include legislative design and evaluation related to energy, environment, and climate. Prior experience includes positions as Senior Legislative Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives for Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and Congressman Keith Ellison, where Mahyar led significant legislative initiatives. As Climate Justice Program Manager at TakeAction Minnesota, advocacy focused on clean energy legislation benefiting low-income communities. Earlier roles included organizing environmental justice campaigns with the Minnesota Public Interest Research Group and providing leadership training at the University of Minnesota Foundation. Mahyar holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Society, and the Environment from the University of Minnesota.
