Mercedes MacIas

Mercedes Macias is a seasoned campaign organizer with extensive experience in political and community engagement. Currently serving as a Senior Campaign Organizer at Sierra Club since November 2020, Mercedes previously held roles as an External Organizer at SEIU 521 and as a Political Organizer at NextGen America, where notable achievements included registering over 1,500 new voters and maintaining a top position in voter registration efforts. With earlier experience as an External Union Organizer at the Service Employees International Union and as Director of Legislative Affairs for Associated Students Incorporated at California State University, Bakersfield, Mercedes has developed strong skills in campaign strategy, member mobilization, community outreach, and legislative advocacy. Mercedes holds a Master of Public Administration and dual Bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Government, with a concentration in International Relations, and in Religion/Religious Studies from California State University, Bakersfield.
